Obituary of George Pollock

William George Pollock 1943-2018

 

With sadness we announce the death of George on Sunday, July 29th, 2018 at the age of 74. Survived by his wife of 56 years Jean. Very proud father of David Pollock – Hurrell, Dan and his wife Beth, and Jean and her husband Richard Gregory. George will be remembered by his grandchildren Sean (Jill), Michael (Demi), Michelle (Marc), Perry (Erin), Cory, Candice, and Steph; as well as by five great grandchildren. Brother of Rosalie and her husband Hugh Terry; predeceased by his sister Judy and brother Ron. Son of the late William and Rosalie Pollock. He will be missed by his long time friends Marion and Gary, and his Aunt Betty Janssens.

 

George was very involved with the Boy Scouts from childhood. He appreciated the friendship of both the boys and fellow Scout Leaders. George and Bud Arnold helped to start the first Chatham Ventures Group. George was also a trainer of the Chatham Maroons for many years, and enjoyed being involved with the team. He also was a proud coach of both Lacrosse and Hockey Teams in Chatham. 

 

George worked for M.S.S.C. (Ontario Steel) beginning in 1963, retiring in 1998.

 

George played golf for 30 years at what is now the Links of Kent. He enjoyed the comradery and friendship of his fellow players. During his illness he appreciated the concern of George and his staff.

 

Cremation has taken place. A Celebration of George’s Life will be held at The Links of Kent Golf Club, 120 Indian Creek Road West, Chatham, on Sunday, August 5th 2018 from 1 to 4pm.
