Obituary of Mary Edna Liepmann
LIEPMANN, Mary
At University Hospital, London, with the love of her life by her side, Mary Edna Liepmann, (87) a life-long resident of West Lorne passed away peacefully on Monday, March 4, 2024.
Beloved life partner and wife of 64 years to Winfrid Liepmann of West Lorne. Loving mother of Anita (Dave), Sharon (Tim) and Wayne (Stefanie). Cherished grandma to Caitlin (Shawn), Tanya (Pete), Scott (Katie), Shelby (Christian), Caleb and Alexis. Great- grandmother to Iroh, Winry and Kyo. She will be fondly remembered by nieces, nephews and close friends.
Born in Crinan, Mary is predeceased by her parents Walter and Violet Cadogan and brother Donald.
Mary enjoyed traveling and seeing the world, but home was where she wanted to be most. After nurse training at St. Joseph’s Hospital, London, she ventured out West with friends to explore and work but her love of family and small-town life soon brought her back home. After returning, Mary nursed at Strathroy Middlesex General Hospital before becoming part of the original team to open the new Four Counties Hospital where she nursed until retiring in 1988. Serving others was her joy whether that was her years of dedicated service to the Women’s Institute, Grace Lutheran Ladies Aid, Meals on Wheels, West Elgin Daffodil Society, hosting family gatherings or the many warm-up parties with friends before dancing to Guy Lombardo at the West Lorne Arena. If you knew Mary, you knew she never wanted attention drawn to her. She liked to do the fussing, enjoyed doing for others: cherished family, friends and community.
Relatives and friends will be received at DENNING's of WEST LORNE on Thursday March 7, 2024 for visitation from 2-4 and 6-8pm. Service will be held at the Grace Lutheran Church in West Lorne on Friday March 8, 2024 at 11 am with visitation 1 hour prior to service. Those wishing to make a donation in Mary's name are asked to consider the West Elgin Daffodil Auxiliary or a charity of your choice.
