Obituary of Wayne Hauser

FATHER, FAMILY MAN, FIREFIGHTER,

FARMER AND FRIEND.

With heavy hearts and much sadness, we share with you that our very strong and brave father, Wayne Hauser has passed away. Wayne is predeceased by his beloved wife Idamay (1997), his parents Roy (1982) and Bessie (née Montgomery) (1998,) and his sister Nancy (1999).  Wayne was the proud father of Jane, Joe (Carrie) and Jeff.  Wayne will be deeply missed and lovingly remembered by his partner, Karen Currah and her family, Julie and Donald, Emma, Jordan, Hannah and Riley McIntyre.  Wayne will also be sadly missed by his brother John (Thelma) and family, and by his sister Mary Lou (Fred) Winkler.  Wayne was a special friend and mentor to Gilbert Poole.

Wayne was a living legend in the small town of West Lorne where he was born and raised, and later returned to raise his own family. He was the local historian, the storyteller, the jokester, the teacher, and the mentor, always willing to offer advice, and the first to lend a helping hand.  Everyone knew Wayne...and Wayne had a story about everyone!  If you had a question, the answer was usually "let’s ask Wayne".  Wayne strongly believed in the value of hard work, and in taking care of his family.  He became a firefighter for the City of London at the age of 20, and was proud and honoured to have served for 35 years, retiring as a Platoon Chief.

Thirty-five years ago Wayne decided to start a new "hobby" boarding race horses.  He fell in love with the horses and the industry and it became his passion.  Wayne became an integral part of the McIntosh Farms family and was still doing chores and chasing after the horses until 2 weeks ago when he became ill.  We called him the Horse Whisperer.

Wayne was a four-time cancer survivor, and was the first to reach out and want to help others on their journey, offering support, and more importantly, hope.  He will be dearly missed by so many.  Dad...may you finally rest in peace.  You have endured so much these past few years.  Always in our hearts, forever remembered.

Relatives and friends will be received at the Elgin International Club, 11558 Kerr Road, West Lorne, on Saturday, November 11th from 1-4 p.m.  A Celebration of Life Service will immediately follow at 4 p.m.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions to the London Regional Cancer Program – Cancer Research, West Elgin Daffodil Society – Welfare, or West Elgin Daffodil Society – Auxiliary Cancer, would be appreciated by the family.
