Darlene and I lead the SMART exercises for seniors at the community centre in Rodney. Once one got to know this lady, she had a very kind heart, a good sense of humour, and wanted her exercise class participants to be fit. And be on time too! Straightforward lady, she was - no ifs' ands' or buts' about her. She loved her bible studies, her yard, her flowers. She was always up on news. She would always give me a chuckle! Before the pandemic, Darlene became unwell and moved to a retirement home in Blenheim. Before visiting her, I would call and ask if she needed anything and her response was always "I love those ice cappuccinos without the foam topping, you can get them at Tim Horton's." So a vanilla ice cappuccino it would be! No more than a month ago, I spoke with her and that humour of hers still shone through. Sweet lady! To the family, I am sorry for your loss. Normande she could always count on you to fill in at the exercise class if she was not well. You were a good friend, and you knew her well.

We did share lots of happy memories at the office. Mom liked to go shopping and then we went for lunch at Fat Jimmy's, Quesada's were her favorite.

So sorry to read of Darlene's passing. She was always a cheerful face at church, an eager and able volunteer and her laughter was contagious. Connie, Ron, Sam and your families, I'll be keeping you in prayer.

Uncle Ken and Aunt Debbie are so sorry for the loss of your dear mom. We send our love to all the family. She was a happy, bubbly lady and we enjoyed her company when we were together. The video tribute to her memory is beautiful and we will watch it many times, I'm sure. Rest in sweet peace Darlene. We will see you in the morning.

That's such a good picture of Darlene with a twinkle in her eyes and that famous smile. Darlene was a long time neighbour of ours on McDougall Line...always pleasant to wave or shout a greeting when she was out gardening. She was a good friend and encourager. Most of all, she was a sister in Christ, and I look forward to seeing her again in the sweet bye and bye. Sad for your loss, Connie, Ron and Sam.
