I grew up beside Ron, Larry, and Mary on Lincoln Road in Windsor. Larry and Mary were my friends but I got to know Ron as he visited his father and siblings. Ron was warm and caring. My sympathy to his family.

I am just learning of Ron's death today. My sincere condolences to the whole family. Ron was my Guidance counsellor when I was a student at John McGregor and continued to be my friend and have good advice for me whenever I visited this area as an adult. We had another good chat after I came back to this area from Africa and was at a JMSS Christmas Staff party that retired teachers used to attend when I saw him last. Thinking of your family today and remembering Ron fondly.

Dearest Mary, Scott, and Drew.
Please accept our Condolences on the death of your beloved Husband, Father, Grandfather and Father in Law.
Ron was always a favourite cousin of mine and shared his great witt, humour, and intelligence with us on PEI by visiting once with you and Nancy. and via emails.
I will treasure my memories of him before my Marriage whilst living in Don Mills, at Mom and Dad’s cottage in Dunks Bay, Tobermory, Ontario, and during your visits to Mom and Dad’s Retirement Home. Bridge and Pizza were on the agenda for a few of those visits before my Dad developed dementia.
You will miss him that’s for sure. But knowing that he loved and treasured you should help you in your grieving process.
Our Sincere love and Sympathy.
Sheila, Winston, Shawn, Brady & Family.

So sorry to hear this, my deepest condolences to the family .
It is I believe common with most people that teachers hold a place in our memories that are special & lasting as they were our first real mentors and when one like Mr. Marentette has imprinted you it is a beautiful thing to hang on to. My years at John McGregor were ones of intense struggle & pain and one day when I was in grade 12 Mr. Marentette asked me to meet him in his office, I sat across from him and he said “ Brian your in a lot of trouble here and yet I think your just a great kid all you have to do to bring peace to your soul is find yourself, you haven’t found out who you are” I said “Sir how do I do that? He thought for awhile and said Dammit Brian I’m not sure but I’m here for you. I just felt fantastic right on that seat simply because an adult was being a friend not an enemy , it didn’t matter he didn’t have the “ secret” it was enough that I knew the man truly cared ! Stayed with me all my life. Thanks Ron ! See ya soon !

I have left this too long, but saying goodbye to Ron is difficult. As a colleague on the board of Adult Language and Learning, he brought his vast knowledge, sense of humour and humanity to our meetings. I will miss his ready smile and wisdom. He has gone too soon but I will remember him with gratitude.

Mary, Scott and Drew; we send our heartfelt condolences to you and your families.
Ron and Mary have been our neighbours for 34 years. We have many happy memories --of shared events, of conversations on everything from our families to world affairs, of leaf burning and beers at the end of a lane leading to a farm field!
Ron could not have been a better neighbour and friend. We will miss him on Silvana Drive.

Dear Mary, Drew, Scott and family - I am so sorry for your loss. Ron was a special man and will be missed by all. I cannot express how much I will miss him and his sense of humor. Ron was a founding board member in 1984 and instrumental in the incorporation of Chatham-Kent Council on Adult Basic Education in 1997 which is now known as Adult Language and Learning. He hired me in September 2002 and has been my mentor, sounding board, and work dad ever since. He would visit me every other week to sign paychecks and check in, but his visits were so much more (politics, world events, family, etc). I feel I know you and all your children from the stories he shared with me. He was proud of each of you and spoke of you often. His dedication to Literacy and Life Long Learning will never be forgotten! I hope you find comfort in knowing he had a very positive impact on others and his time spent on our Board assisted in making a difference in many lives!
I was able to visit with him a couple of times since January, have a coffee with him and reminisce. It was a privilege to know him, work with him and be mentored by him! Thank you for sharing him with me.

To Mary and family, our condolences. We are deeply saddened by the news of Ron's passing. Ron has gone to soon.
John, Kim and Albert always loved it when you came to visit Toronto. We would have meals to watching FIFA World Cup Soccer. The whole family would watch together. Ron loved it when France won. France won lots and even a FIFA World Cup.
He always smiled and laughed and even said funny things to make everyone chuckle. We are all going to miss you.
Our thoughts and prayers are with you and your family.

Our condolences to Mary, Scott, Drew and their families on Ron's passing. I have fond memories of spending summers in London with Ron while attending summer school. We stayed at Wima Mossip's boarding house and spent most afternoons and evenings playing pinochle and cribbage. Ron loved to play cards.
Ron and I worked together at McGregor and spent many hours developing the school timetable. A few weeks ago Ron reminded me of the year we finished the timetable on the computer after a weeks of intensive trial and error. We left the school Friday afternoon quite satisfied with the results. When we returned Monday morning, we discovered the computer had been stolen and of course we hadn't made a backup. We had to start over.
Our kids grew up together and were good friends throughout the high school years and after. They have good memories of time spent with Ron and Mary
