Obituary of Frederick Welch

Frederick Limon Welch was born in Rodney, Ontario, March 29, 1924. Fred passed away peacefully at home on May 2, 2006. He was a lifelong member of West Lorne Baptist Church. He was a logger for most of his life and worked at Milner Rigsby for many years. Fred is survived by longtime companion and caregiver, Sharon Welch, brother Lawrence (Lorne), sister Doris Nash, sister-in-law Geraldine Welch; sons David A. Welch (Patricia), James F. Welch (Cathy), Peter L. Welch (Lorie), Brian E. Welch (Denise), Isabel Lewis (Bill), Ethel Sopkowiak (David). Fred has 35 grandchildren, 48 great grandchildren and 4 great, great grandchildren. Also survived by many nieces and nephews. Fred was predeceased by his parents Lawrence E. Welch and Margaret I. Rodgers, brothers Clarence, Ed, William; sister Lavina and son Leonard Limon Welch. Visitation will be at the West Lorne Chapel on Thursday 2-4 and 7-9 pm. Funeral service will be conducted from the Chapel on Friday at 11:00 am., Rev. A. Kaups and Pastor S. Patterson officiating. Interment Evergreen Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Cancer Society, St. Thomas Elgin Red Cross or Care Partners of St. Thomas as an expression of your sympathy.
