My sincere sympathy to Donelda and all Jack's family. I have fond memories of Jack in Bright's Grove, walking or riding his bike along the road by the lake. I lost touch with Jack when he moved away and his house was sold, for which I am sorry. He will be missed for his dry sense of humour and matter-of-fact conversation. Donelda, you and your family are in my prayers. God's blessings, Susan Woodhouse

Jack married my mother,Donelda (Nupsy) Shearer Burley on Dec 12, 1974 and immediately became part of our family. Over the years he willingly opened his heart and his home to his stepchildren and their families. Jack's home in Bright's Grove became the focal point for family gatherings and celebrations. We are a wandering group of people and are scattered across Canada now but memories of summer BBQs,Christmas, Easter and Thanksgiving feasts at Mom and Jack's are common links that keep us all tied to one another in love and shared joy. Through the years, Jack provided whatever support and guidance he could whenever needed for anyone of us. Wherever we travelled, we knew Jack's home was our home too. We will never forget him. As both my biological grandfathers passed very early on, one before I was born the other when I was very young, who better tho step in and fill that oh so important role than Jack.
We lived in Sarnia when I was little, Jack and Grandma would pick me up whenever I called to spend a few days at their place in Brights Grove. I have very fond memories of us playing on the beach, walking Molly, picking veggies in the garden and of course cruising around with Jack listening to the CB radio in his truck.
Sadly we moved away, and then farther and farther away, but I could always pick up the phone and call and he would drop whatever he was doing to talk.
He was funny, witty and a champion joker "hey Barbie, do you know whats under a ponys tail?" he would ask as he tugged on my pigtails.
I will miss him forever and a day, and will always be grateful that he was my Grandpa and a huge part of my life.
Lots and lots of love, Barbie.
