Obituary of Muriel McLaren

Muriel Marie (Grapes) McLaren passed away peacefully at Watford Quality Care Nursing Home on October 14th 2010, in her 94th year. She is survived by her loving husband of 67 years, James Alex McLaren, by sons Robert (Marion), Honolulu, and Jim (Margaret), Ottawa, and daughter Margaret (George), Miami. Survived also by seven grandchildren, Matthew and David Irons, Peter and Michael McLaren, Cathy (Justin) Oliver, of Honolulu, Janet McLaren of Birmingham, Alabama, and Linda (Eric) Robinson of Houston, Texas, and four great granddaughters. Survived also by brother Dr. Berton (Margaret) Grapes of Cambridge and sister Gwen Glassford of Ancaster, and several nieces and nephews. Predeceased by her parents Simon (Bert) and Pearl Grapes, sister Iola Leckie, and an infant son, John David McLaren. Muriel graduated from Westdale Collegiate and later from the 1939 class of the Hamilton Hospital School of Nursing. After graduation, she was employed by the Presbyterian Eye Hospital in New York City, until her marriage in 1943. Visitation will be held at the WATFORD CHAPEL OF DENNING FUNERAL DIRECTORS on Friday, November 5th, 2010 from 7-9pm with Memorial Service on Saturday, November 6th at 11am from the Watford United Church. Cremation has taken place. Donations, if desired, to the Diabetes Association or Canadian Cancer Society would be appreciated by the family.
