Obituary of Duncan Morrison
Duncan Morrison
At the Morrison Homestead Farm on Friday January 27, 2012 Duncan Archibald James Morrison in his 75th year died peacefully with family and friends at his side.
Survived by his loving wife and life partner Grace McGartland, his son Robert Morrison, daughter-in-law Lori, along with his grandson William, his pride and joy, his sister Helen Battin, his cousin Sandy and the remaining Morrison and Simpson families; 8 sisters-in-law; 5 brothers-in-law. Forever remembered by nieces Jeannie, Sam, Lily and his other 35 nieces and nephews.
Predeceased by his parents Arthur and Katharine (Simpson) Morrison, Brother-in-law Jack Battin.
Born in Aldborough Township, Dunc moved back to the family farm in the Spring of 2002, where in 1843, his great-grandfather William Morrison put down his roots in Elgin County and, subsequently, his grandfather Robert Morrison purchased a 50 acre farm from the Crown Corporation.
Retired Chairman of ARRI Canada Ltd., he served as its President from 1994 to 2001. Previously, he served as a Vice President of Seapoint Financial Corporation, Chief Financial Officer of the CTV Television Network Ltd. in Toronto, Canada and Vice President/Controller of Copperweld Corporation in Pittsburgh, Vice President, Treasurer, and the Comptroller of Kysor Industrial Corporation in Cadillac, Michigan.
Currently Director/Treasurer of The Arts & Cookery Bank and Director of Elgin Business Resource Centre. From 1982 to 2009, Dunc served as a Director of II-VI Inc and from 2009 to 2011 served as Director of II-VI Foundation.
An active community volunteer, Dunc volunteers as a driver for the VON program, was a founding trainer in the BEST senior exercise program in Rodney, and is a member in West Elgin Nature Club.
Friends may call at the WEST LORNE CHAPEL OF DENNING FUNERAL DIRECTORS on Sunday, January 29th, 2012 from 7-9 pm and Monday from 2-4 and 7-9 pm. Funeral service will be conducted on Tuesday at 10 am at the funeral home chapel. Rev. S. Yeo officiating. Interment Evergreen cemetery.
