Obituary of Robert King

Peacefully, at his home on Sunday, May 25th, 2014. Robert Lyle King of Rodney in his 82nd year. Cherished husband and dearest friend of his wife, Betty of 61 years. Dear father to William (Susan), Harvey (Judy) and David (Andrea). Loving grandpa to Stefanie Joseph (Richard), Kristopher, Kathleen (Yannick), Evelyn Flanagan (Jason), Heather, Lisa (Dave), Emily (Josh) and Sarah (Nik) and great grandpa to Jesse and Josh Joseph. Survived by his sisters Beatrice Clinton and Doris Schweitzer and brother in law Harvey Friedrich (Marg). Special uncle to many nieces and nephews. Predeceased by his parents and his sisters Margaret Waite and Velma King. Bob's passion for farming was evident to his family, friends and neighbours. He spent countless hours advocating for social justice in the farming community. He was a long time dedicated member of Knox Presbyterian Church, New Glasgow. In retirement, he gave up the plow for the pen and authored numerous books about his life. Friends may call at Calvary United Church, Rodney on Wednesday, May 28th, 2014 from 1 to 2 pm. Funeral service will follow at 2 pm. Greg Simpson officiating. Private interment of ashes will take place at a later date.
