Obituary of Winifred Ruby Ford

It is with deep sadness that we announce the passing of our mother (mum), nanny and great-granny Winifred Ruby Ford on Monday, April 23rd (St. George’s Day), 2018.  She was predeceased by her loving husband Harry (Henry) Ford in 1993, sisters Doreen (Phil) Read, Audrey (Dennis) Bullen, Valerie (Geoff) Allen) and her brother Sidney (Nelly) Stevens as well as various nieces and nephews in England and the United States. She leaves behind daughter Catharine Anne (Don) Walker and a son David John (Mary) Ford as well as her adored grandchildren Valerie Walker, Elizabeth (Greg) MacDiarmid and Susan (Dave) Noordermeer, Stephen (Heather) Ford and Christopher (Enisa).  Her great-grandchildren Case, James, Nicola, Nathan, Colin and Amelie will miss her humour and kindness. Mum was known for her sense of humour (a true “Londoner”), her non-judgemental attitude and love of politics and world events as well as music, English comedies, flowers and her favourite past-time reading of which she was a fierce advocate.  Some of her many sayings were “Do it while you can”, “If you have your health, you have everything” and finally “I can’t be bothered” (Laughlingly). The Funeral Service will be held at DENNING’S OF STRATHROY on Saturday, April 28th, 2018 at 2:00 p.m. with visitation one hour prior.  Donations would be gratefully received by Strathroy United Church, Oxfam and the Salvation Army. May we take this occasion to extend our heartfelt thanks to the staff at Strathmere Lodge which has been mum’s home for ten years.  Their love, compassion and care will never be forgotten.  God bless all of you. Don, Anne, David and Mary and families.
