Joe and I were shocked to hear today about Bill’s passing. We also had the pleasure of shooting with and against Bill in some friendly competitions. He had a beautiful smile, and a glint in his eye, especially when he just beat you. He always seemed happy to see us whenever we made it out to the Wabash club, as were we glad to see him. Rest In Peace Bill, you truly will be missed. Becky and Joe

I always loved shooting trap against Bill, especially competition shoots, we would harass each other so one of us would miss, the best time I had shot them straight and Bill was the last shooter on the squad, just as he was ready to shoot, I asked Bill to tell me the story how he missed the big buck in his tree stand, he dropped his last bird, he just turned around, smiled and laughed and said you got me good, I owe you one. Keep the wood on the wood Bill, Sheila and I will miss you a lot.

Rest in peace Bill, I will dearly miss stopping in to see you or getting surprised by what old Remington you had saved for me to buy when I stopped in, I very much enjoyed stopping in just to chat to to see what new stuff you had in your store, it was very seldom that I would leave your store with the same amount of money in my pocket as when I entered which made my friend's laugh ,you were a good man and I will miss you,you will now be in the land with the biggest and the best hunting ground ever, Happy Hunting my friend !

Bill will be sadly missed not only by us but the whole firearms community here in southwestern Ontario. He will be remembered with a big smile and a great sense of humour. His knowledge as a second generation gunsmith is now lost. He was fair to deal with, great with consignment items, and always helpful. I saw many Windsorites (my hometown) travel to Rodney, for scope mounting, remarking that Andy, Bill's father, took care of their dads guns and Bill would be taking care of theirs.
I have known him for about 40 yrs now, just as an acquaintance re: his dealings with firearms, be it repair or purchase. The Tecumseh trailer in Essex County is where I first met him,his dads shop/store.
His name will be remembered in trap shooting circles and 3D target shooting events....his name is etched on many trophies for those that didn't know this about him, as he wasn't the bragging type.
We spoke about firearms nearly every week on the phone and our conversations about certain Browning, Remington and Winchester models were always great. Bill could fill in the blanks on lots of things that had me puzzled or that I had learned incorrectly, whether it was about repair or what came before what, etc.
We last spoke about 10 to 12 days ago with him telling me he had suddenly dropped over 10 lbs and was feeling a lot of pain. My reassurances that a doctors visit would fix that, even offering to drive him to the apt if needed, was respectfully turned down but appreciated by him.
To think that this was our last conversation will always bother me.....it should have been about something happy, or gun like, not deteriorating health.
To all those that knew him, especially those in his inner circle of friends, our sincere condolences.
