Obituary of Captain James Irwin
Captain James Henry Irwin of Forest in his 99th year passed away at North Lambton Lodge on Wednesday, February 6th, 2008. Jim was a resident of North Lambton Lodge for the past few years, born in 1909 he was the beloved son of Orville and Virginia Irwin, Lake Road Plympton. Surviving are his sisters Bernice Irwin of Forest, Virginia Law of Hamilton, Virena Marshall of Caledonia and many nieces and nephews. Predeceased by sister Clara (1984), brothers Russell (1996), Orville (1999) and George (2005). He began his sailing career at the age of 19 and started as a deck hand and working his way up over the years as a Merchant Marine and Captain. As Captain he earned the Top Hat a few times bringing the first ship up the St. Clair River docking in Sarnia. Visitation will be held from the Ronn E. Dodge Funeral Home in Forest (James St. S. at Watt St.) on Saturday, February 9th, 2008 from 11am-1pm with Funeral Service to follow at the Funeral Home at 1pm with Rev. Cathy Larmond officiating.
