MOFFAT, John Wayne
(CPGA Life Member - Master Clubmaker - Mentor - Husband - Father)
After a courageous battle with pulmonary fibrosis, John passed away peacefully surrounded by the love of his close family at Bluewater Health in Sarnia, Ontario on November 29th in his 67th year.
Born in London, Ontario on April 17th, 1945, John attended Oakridge Secondary School before he joined the CPGA in 1963. He was the Assistant Golf Professional to John Moffat Sr. at Thames Valley Golf Club in London, Ontario from 1963 to 1970. From there he moved to Weston Golf and Country Club as Assistant Golf Professional to Gord Delaat. In 1973, he and his wife, Wendy, moved to Leamington, Ontario where he was the Head Golf Professional at Erie Shores Golf and Country Club for 23 years. John then became the Teaching Professional at Orchard View Golf Course where he focused on teaching and his true passion, clubmaking. In 2003 John became the co-owner and manager of the Bluffs of Port Stanley Golf Club until his retirement to Port Franks in 2010.
His love for his family and friends and his passion for life, golf, music, antique cars, car racing, golden retrievers, and photography sustained him through his heroic battle with a terminal disease. He will be deeply missed by Wendy, his wife and soul-mate of 42 years, his daughters Keri (Mike) and Ashley, his sister Betty (Barry), his nephew David (Kristine), his cousin Jim (Marg), and numerous other family members, friends and colleagues.
