Obituary of Gladys W. Dewey

Dewey, Mrs. Gladys W. Passed away peacefully at the North Lambton Lodge, on Friday, December 18, 2015. Gladys Dewey (nee Harford) at the age of 83 years. Born in Virden, Manitoba, on June 21, 1932 to Bert and Mabel Harford. Married the love of her life for always, Don, on April 15, 1950. Survived by her children Kendall Dewey (Joanne) of Picton, Dale Dewey of Picton, Barb Hayward (Steve) of Sarnia, Sheryll Bell (Bud) of Ladysmith, B.C., Glen Dewey (Bev) of Perth, Dorothy-Ellyn Stewart (Doug) of Sarnia. Her unequalled joy of 17 grandchildren, Matthew & Sarah Dewey, Dean Dewey, Breeann Blakely (Luke), Kalyn Quaif (Ben), Blair Hayward (Simone), Lauren Costley (Andrew), Kristin Hayward, Jordanne Hayward (Austin), Ashley Pagan (Justin), Tara, Kelsey, and Dayna Bell, Derek, Ryan Dewey, Mason and Daniel Stewart. 8 great-children, Rhys and Max Hayward, Ben and Ty Pagan, Kostin and Kane Blakely, Sadie Quaif, and Charlie Costley. Survived by her sister Lorraine Whitely (Leo), and her brother Lloyd Harford. Predeceased by her husband Donald, her sister Dorothy, her brothers Leonard, Bernard, Dennis, and Jack, and her parents, the late Bert and Mabel Harford. Gladys was an active member of the Forest community, St. John Fisher School, and her faith community of St. Christopher’s Parish. She was a very dedicated member and past President of the London Diocesan CWL. She was also installed as the first Pastoral Minister of St. Christopher’s Parish. The family wishes to thank the staff at North Lambton Lodge and Dr. Buckton for the last 12 years for Mom’s care, and a special thanks to her wonderful friends Theresa Garnham and Hetty Hoornweg. Visitation will take place at Denning’s of Forest, 9 James Street South, Forest, on Monday, December 21, 2015, from 2:00 pm - 4:00 pm & 7:00 – 9:00 pm. A Funeral Mass will be celebrated at St. Christopher’s Church on Tuesday, December 22, 2015, at 11:00 am. Interment to follow at Beechwood Cemetery. Reception to follow at the Forest Legion.
