Your mother and our mother were the best of friends for many years. They lived across the road from one another in Lambeth. I remember your mother saying that a city girl (our mother) and a country girl (your mother) shared a special friendship. What a lovely memory of two wonderful women. Dear Duncan, Donna, and McMillan Family, At times like these mere words may seem trite but I want all of you to know that your mother Catherine was always a good friend and mentor to me, as Duncan and I grew up together in London before we both left to join the Army. Catherine, along with your father Neil, was always good to me. They treated me like the man I was to become when I was just a boy and provided me with sound guidance and counsel. I am very sorry to hear of Catherine's passing. We met at one of the McMillan Clan Gatherings and I received the news through Susan Drinkwater. My sister and I enjoyed meeting her very much. I didn't realize before now that I was related but now see that I am related through Catherine's husband. My 3rd great-grandfather was Ewen McMillan who was married to Mary MacMillan Campbell. Their son, Alexander, was brother of my 2nd great-grandmother Catherine McMillan who married William Evans. Their son Millan Alexander Robert Evans was my great grandfather.
