Obituary of Mary and Bill Abraham

Please join us for a Ceremony celebrating the lives of William “Bill” and Mary Abraham, long time residents of Corunna, Ontario and formally of Strathroy. Bill and his five sisters grew up in Chatham, Ontario. After high school he trained in the Royal Canadian Air force, obtaining the rank of Sargent as a navigator. He was stationed in Coventry, England until the war ended. Upon returning home he began his photography career at “The Bill Dolomar Studio” and alongside his brother-in-law Albert at “Totter Photography.” Once established in Corunna many couples and their children had Bill photograph their weddings. He went on to work for Dow and Polymar in the late 90’s creating slide presentations for their market department. Bill was an avid gardener and loved nature. He and Mary’s home was a frequent stop on the garden tour and he was the proud recipient of the Trillium Award for Master Gardener in 1997. Mary Elizabeth Mann was the daughter of Frank and Zine Mann of Wallaceburg and the oldest of her siblings, four brothers and one sister. She attended W.D.S.S. then went on to nursing school at Chatham Public General Hospital from which she graduated with the class of 1946. Mary and Bill married in August of 1950 after which went on to work at St. Joseph’s hospital in Sarnia and retired in 1993. She was a familiar face around the hospital, first working in the Medication Department then onward to the Recovery Room. Mary was always busy with crafts, golfing, curling, yoga and raising three children. Bill and Mary will be sadly missed by their son Michael (Brenda Parris), daughters Suellen (Paul Romard) and Carol Little, and grandchildren Ryan, Jason, Collin, Claire and Gabe. A heartfelt thanks goes out to the wonderful, caring staff at Highview Residences in London who looked after Mary these past three years. Also a thank you to Dr. Sanders and staff at Strathroy Hospital, and the staff of Seasons Strathroy who looked after our father during his stay there. Visitation will be held at Denning’s of Strathroy on Sunday June 28th, 2015 from 7-9pm and again on Monday June 29th, 2015 from 10am until the time of the Service at 11am. A luncheon will follow. In lieu of flowers, please consider a donation to the Parkinson Society or Alzheimer Society of Canada.
