This memory of Egon comes from one of my first visits out to the house to view his sizeable collection of local and family memorabilia. His assortment of antiques was amazing enough, but what really impressed me was Egon's most recent project: he had successfully refurbished the gas well by which his house (and greenhouse) were heated. I began to understand then that there was nothing that Egon couldn't adapt, shape or repurpose to make exactly what he needed, without any great expense!

We are honoured to have had Egon and Eloner for neighbors for many years. We shared many hours together in the orchard working and in the living room visiting. It was always interesting conversation with Egon and he was always inventing something to make life easier or more fun. I will always cherish the pendant that he created for me. Both Egon and Eleanor were strong advocates and supporters of local history and genealogy. We use their collections, indexes, books and stories every day in the Lambton County Museums and Archives...so they definately made a difference. Thank you Egon.
