Dear Dagmar and family,
It was with sadness that we received the news of Ray's passing. Unfortunately we are unable to be with you today in person but our thoughts and prayers are with you at this difficult time.
Ray was such a great comrade in the Regiment. I have nothing but good memories of our association together in the various exercises and Regimental functions in which we participated. It is never the right time to lose a loved one and within the Regimental family it is such a personal loss. May he rest in peace and again, Dagmar, our thoughts and prayers remain with you and your family.
Kindest regards,
Jim and Anita

My contemporaries and comrades, Bill Sutherland and Brian Colgate, have already expressed my opinion of Ray in an eloquent fashion. He was, indeed, very much the role model, both as a Company Commander and as the Battalion Second in Command during our days together in the First.
I recall feeling a sense of personal loss when he announced his impending retirement those many years ago. And now, although we have not seen one another for far too long, I discover that feeling is upon me again. I discovered years ago that I had only good and friendly memories of all the time we spent together, no bad ones whatever. And I think that says an awful lot about any man.
My thoughts are with Dagmar and the family.
Pro Patria, old friend.

Dagmar and family, we are truly saddened by Ray's passing. We first met at NDHQ, and last served together in 1 RCR. He was always a reliable and confidential source of advise for me, which was invaluable during my time as CO. He was not only a professional fellow officer, he was a friend. Always quick with a joke and a smile, he was a pleasure to be around. We will all miss him. Thoughts and love from us. John

Dear Dagmar and Family,
"An Officer and a Gentle Man" was a description made for Ray.
I served with him briefly in the 1st Battalion, for just short of a year, in 1972. Not only has Ray never been forgotten in the intervening years; he has been thought of often in many situations. He was "the" officer that we of the next generation looked up to as a role model, as we hoped to aspire to become like him.
Every blessing to you and your extended family.
Requiescat in pace, Ray ...

During any talk of soldiers, Eli immediately always brought up "Ray from church". Eli thought Ray was a superhero when he wore his uniform on Remembrance Day, and indeed, he truly was a superhero in his own right. Few words can describe Ray's big personality. He was an amazing man and his presence (and especially his voice!) will be deeply, deeply missed at West Lorne United Church.
May God wrap His loving arms around you all during this time,
Julie Khan and the Khan boys, Eli, Aydin and Maddox

I will miss my very special Godfather Ray. He and Dagmar were the very best to my twin sister and, flying us to Ottawa to visit for a week, taking us to see the changing of the guards and swimming every day. One of my fondest memories is of Ray photographed walking alongside Queen Elizabeth. I squealed "You were able to walk beside the Queen?" Ray nonchalantly would say " Actually, she was able to walk beside ME!" I will remember all the good times I have had with him....but I still will miss him.

Catherine and Family,
I am so sad for the loss of your Dad. Such a great man and father to have shared in all your lives. He will be missed and always thought fondly of by many. He does live on in each of you, a comment, a certain way you move, that mischeivous act or smile, a word or a thought. Hug your mom and each other and cherish all those memories. My sincere condolences to you all.
