Obituary of Tina Schakel

With grace and dignity, Tina Schakel age 90, at Strathroy Middlesex General Hospital on Monday, February 12, 2007 after a short but courageous battle with cancer. Predeceased by her husband Bert, 1997, her son Lorne, 2003 (Sharon) and 2 infants in the Netherlands. Tina will be lovingly remembered by her children Garry (Sandy), Fred (Karen) and Angie (Dwight). She was a beloved grandma and Beppe to Nick and Ryan Thompson, Kevin, Ian, Garry, Steven and David Schakel (Cassie) and great grandma to Ashlee and Austin. Tina and her family arrived in Canada from the Netherlands in July, 1957. Her love of gardening and flowers stayed with her until the end. She enjoyed her friends at Trillium Village where she celebrated a wonderful 90th birthday in June. Until September 2006, Tina had never spent a day in the hospital. Her strength and courage surprised all the doctors. Her family would like you to join them in a celebration of her life on Thursday, February 15 at Denning Bros. Funeral Home for visitation from 2-4 PM and 7-9 PM and a service on Friday, February 16 at 2 PM with Rev. Charles Seed officiating. Interment in Strathroy Cemetery.
