Obituary of Andy Cipu
CIPU
Peacefully, with the pride and dignity he exemplified his whole life. At Four Counties Health Services, Newbury on Monday, December 24th, 2007. Andrew (Andy) Cipu of Rodney in his 83rd year. Lovingly remembered by his wife and girlfriend of over 60 years, Virginia (Lapadat).
Loving and proud father of George Cipu, Vera Sudicky and Flo (Joe) Vergeer all of Rodney. Andy will be sadly missed by his grandchildren Chris, Jeff (Linda), Dave (Stacy), Jessica (Dan), Matthew, Aron (Rosemarie), Emily and Aric and great grandchildren Lauren, Brett, Riley and Evan. Survived by his sister Elizabeth (John) Okolisan of Rodney. Predeceased by his father George (1977), his mother Florence (1968), his father in law Mike Lapadat (1968) and mother in law Magdalene (1989).
Andy came to Canada in 1938 from Yugoslavia and grew Tobacco from 1942 until his retirement in 1975. He was past leader of the 4H Tobacco Club, past chairman of Aldborough #8 school, past president of the Elgin Trustees & Ratepayers Association, past president of the Rodney-Aldborough Fair board, P.D.D.G.M of the Independent Order of Oddfellows, Elgin, P.D.D.G.M. Mason of St. Thomas District, Past Worthy Patron of the Order of the Eastern Star and a life member of the Port Glasgow Yaught Club. Special thanks to Dr. Morgan and the nursing staff at Four Counties Hospital.
Friends may call at the Rodney Chapel on Thursday, December 27th, 2007 from 2-4 and 7-9 pm. Order of the Eastern Star #169 will conduct a memorial service at 6:30 pm, Thursday and West Elgin Lodge # 386 AF & AM will conduct a memorial service at 6:45 pm at the funeral home. Funeral service will be held at the Rodney Chapel on Friday at 1 pm. Pastor R. Karn officiating. Interment Rodney cemetery.
