Obituary of Marjorie Giffen

It is with great regret that the family of Marjorie Mary (Breedon) Giffen announce her passing on May 3, 2007. Marjorie passed away peacefully at her home in Strathroy, Ontario in her 98th year. She was born April 4, 1910 in Nottingham, England to Oscar Charles and Alice Hilda Kate (Speed) Breedon and was wife of the late Norman Andrew Cameron Giffen. Marjorie is survived by her 5 sons; Norman (Marie), Gordon (Ila), Barry and Wayne (Linda) all of Strathroy and John (Bonnie) of Corunna, her siblings; H. Joan McLean and Norman C. Breedon (Audrey) of British Columbia and Thelma M Smith (Norman) of Strathroy and sister-in-law Marion Breedon. She will be greatly missed by her 13 grandchildren, 4 step-grandchildren, 21 great-grandchildren, 9 step-great-grandchildren and 1 great-great-grandchild, plus several nieces and nephews. Marjorie is predeceased by her father Charles Breedon (1952), mother Hilda (Breedon) Bassford (1968, step-father Albert Bassford (1972), husband Cameron (1989), brother George Breedon (1998), daughter-in-law Jean (Knight) Giffen (1964), granddaughter Shelley Giffen (1968) and brother-in-law Delmer McLean. Marjorie was a member of the First Baptist Church, Legion, many other organizations and had just received her 65 year pin from the Lady Howard Rebekah Lodge. Visitation will be held Sunday, May 6 from 2-4 and 7-9 PM at Denning Bros. Funeral Home, Strathroy where a funeral service will be held at 1 PM on Monday, May 7, 2007 with Dr. Brian McKenzie officiating. Committal service to follow at the Poplar Hill Cemetery. A Lady Howard Rebekah Lodge service will be held at the funeral home on Sunday evening at 6:30 PM. Donations to the Strathroy Middlesex General Hospital Foundation or charity of choice would be appreciated.
