Obituary of Kazimierz Jankiewicz

Kazimierz Jankiewicz, at Strathmere Lodge, Strathroy, in the presence of his family. Kazimierz, better known in the community as Charlie, slipped away quietly in his sleep on Sunday, June 3, 2007. Kazic, as he liked to be called, was a very religious man and was a member of All Saints Catholic Church from the time he came to Canada. He was a soldier in the Polish army during the war then immigrated to Caradoc Township where he owned and operated a tobacco farm. He will be sadly missed by Marie as she went to visit him daily. He leaves behind his wife Marie, granddaughter Magda Nauta, great-grandchildren Jeff, Arik and Alex and many close and dear friends. Kasic also leaves behind friends in Poland, United States and Australia. He had many opportunities to travel quite extensively around the globe and was a very well liked by everyone he touched. He always had a story or a joke to tell. During his years in Poland he studied music to become a Conductor, but the war put a hold on his dreams and he came to Canada and was unable to pursue his dream. On March 2, 1911 Kazimierz was born in Krzeszow, Poland to Antoni Jankiewicz and Leonarda Chodorwska, both deceased in Poland. He was also predeceased by 3 brothers and 3 sisters in Poland.
