Obituary of Donald Simpson
Don will be remembered in the true sense of the word "A Gentleman". Don died quietly on Wednesday July 18, 2007, following a lengthy struggle at the Strathroy Middlesex Hospital in his 82nd year. He was born on his parents farm in McGillvray Township, August 6, 1925, one of three sons of the Late Horatio and Gertrude (Lewis) Simpson. He was predeceased by his brothers Kenneth and Emerson. He is survived by his beloved wife of 51 years, Arlene (Watson, Shipley); "Brothers and Sisters", Carl Watson and his wife Audrey of London, Ontario; Meryl Cox and her husband Phil of London, Ontario; Reg Watson and his wife Lynda of London, Ontario and Wayne Watson and his wife Jill of St. Catharines, Ontario. Also remembered as a special "Uncle Don" to Lynn Watson of London, Ontario; Bob Watson (Brenda) of London, Ontario; David Cox (Linda Mac Vicar-Cox) of Deep River, Ontario; Tom Cox (Carol-Ann) of Calgary, Alberta; Diane Thatcher (Jeff) of Innisfil, Ontario; Robin Watson (Doug Box) of London, Ontario; Susan Stucke (David) of London, Ontario; Nancy Watson (George Benes) of London, Ontario; Debbie Hunter (Jim) of St. Catharines, Ontario and Tracy Veit (Ozzie) of Mississauga, Ontario. Don also leaves 18 grand nieces and nephews and many loving friends and neighbours. Don with Arlene by his side, owned and operated Don Simpson Shoes in Strathroy for nearly 20 years, striving always to please his customers. He loved shooting a leisurely round of golf with his long time buddies. Throughout their years together, Don and Arlene enjoyed many wonderful adventures traveling near and far. Relatives and friends will be received by family at the Denning Bros. Funeral Home, 32 Metcalfe St. W., Strathroy, Ontario on Friday, July 20, 2007 from 2:00-4:00pm and 7:00-9:00pm where the funeral service will be held on Saturday, July 21, 2007 at 11:00am with Rev. Charles Seed and Rev. Jock Tolmay officiating. Interment in St.James Cemetery, Clandeboye, Ontario to follow.
