Obituary of Velda Gardiner
It is with great sadness that the family of Velda Gardiner (née Giffel) announce her sudden passing on Saturday, November 30, 2024 at the age of 93.
Loving Mother to Carolyn (Bruce) Climie of Fort Saskatchewan, AB; Brenda Aishford of Toronto, ON; Marie Gardiner of Bright’s Grove, ON; Evelyn (Rob) Eagleson of Sarnia, ON; and Lorna Gardiner of Sarnia, ON. Cherished Grandmother to Kevin Climie of Fort Saskatchewan, AB and Lisa (Grant) Schiller of Carrot River, SK; Christopher Aishford and Carey (Glenn) Beardsley of Toronto, ON; Janis Eagleson (Scott Gibson) of Burlington, ON; and Jeff Eagleson (Kerry Martel) of Sudbury, ON. Much loved Great Grandmother to Paige and Corbin Schiller, Cody and Brooke Beardsley, Blake Gibson and Charles Eagleson.
Mom was a very special Auntie and loved dearly by Dianne, Bill and Sandy.
Mom grew up on a farm on Michigan Ave., gaining her knowledge of harvesting fruits and vegetables. She spent her days working at the Sarnia Market during her adolescence. This background gave mom her excellent experience at cooking delicious meals and apple pie for family, and friends who were fortunate enough to be visiting at dinner time.
When she retired from the Bank of Montreal, she spent approximately 30 years living in Puce, Essex County, where she shared many boat trips on the Great Lakes, cruises and vacations in the Caribbean with Chuck Emery up to his death in 2013.
Mom returned to Sarnia and lived on Sandy Lane, Point Edward overlooking the beautiful lake, watching local fishermen and boaters sail by. Thanks to VON PSW’s and health care professionals who visited and helped care for mom at home.
Mom spent 2 short days at Vision Nursing Home until the time of her death. The family would like to thank the great nursing staff who took such good care of Mom, and Dr. Crombeen, from Palliative Care, Bluewater Health for her wonderful care and comfort for mom and family.
Cremation has taken place. There will be no visitation or service. Private family Celebration of Life will be held at a later date. In lieu of flowers, donations to the Heart and Stroke Foundation would be appreciated. Online condolences may be left at www.dennings.ca
