Obituary of Kenneth Fritz Werboweski
Kenneth Fritz (Werby) Werboweski
Nov 6, 1941 - Oct 30, 2024
It is with deepest regret and sorrow the family of Ken (Werby) Werboweski announces his peaceful passing on October 30, 2024, just 2 days after his loving wife of 40 years, Joan Werboweski.
Loving father of daughter Lesley Hartoon (Joe), adored grandpa to Cassie Hartoon and Great grandpa (Papa) to Ada.
Predeceased by his mother Mary (2003), father Fritz (1979), brother John (1980), sister Anne Wyllie and step son Chuck Gyle (2019).
Dad’s greatest love, next to his wife, was his granddaughter Cassie; teaching her to garden, fish (at least how to tell good fish stories), and play Yahtzee. Then 4 years ago, his great-granddaughter Ada came along and stole his heart. His face lit up with a giant smile anytime Ada ran into the room and at the same time scared him whenever she was climbing or jumping off whatever was the highest object.
In his younger days when he wasn’t working on appliances, he was refereeing hockey while supervising up to 100 other refs and linesmen. Dad was a huge Red Wings and Toronto Blue Jays fan. He could often be found out in the garage having a “cold one” listening to the game.
Dad enjoyed gardening, hunting and fishing and was passionate about volunteering with the Strathroy Lions Club.
Dad spent 54 years as a Lions Member, first in Delaware then in Strathroy where he was known to everyone as Werby. Dad received many awards from the Lions but one of his proudest moments was receiving the Life Time Achievement award from Lions International. He served as A1 District Governor where he was able to travel and meet many fellow Lions and Lioness to create amazing friendships, as well as several very interesting stories and memories.
A private family interment will be held at a later date. In lieu of flowers donations to the Strathroy Lions Club can be made in his honour.
