Obituary of Joan Phyllis Werboweski
Phyllis Joan Werboweski
(Gyle, Worthington)
April 4, 1945-October 28, 2024
It is with great sadness and heavy heart that the family of Joan announces her sudden passing on October 28, 2024 in her 80th year.
Loving wife of Ken (Werby) Werboweski for 40 years, proud mother of daughter Lesley Hartoon (Joe) and predeceased by son (2019) Chuck Gyle (Ali Thompson). Cherished grandma to Cassie Hartoon, Kayla and Taylor Gyle of Calgary, Dakota Gyle Pitts of England. Great grandma (Gigi) to Ada, Cameron, Paisley, and Eliza.
Remembered fondly by her cousin Keith Pitt (Jo) in England as well many other family members in England.
Predeceased by her brother David Worthington (Janet) of England.
She will be sadly missed by special long-time friends Jean Glover and Wendy Bloomfield.
Mom was happiest spending as much time as she could with her family, friends and especially her great granddaughter Ada. She was always making or baking something for someone. No one left her house hungry. She loved to travel especially with her “partner in crime” Jean. Mom enjoyed knitting and reading when she sat long enough to do either.
Mom spent many years involved with the Lioness Club of Mt. Brydges and served a term as District president. She worked 20 years for Bingo Country in Strathroy and Sarnia. In these adventures she had the opportunity to enjoy the acquaintances of many people and always took time to share a good conversation or a laugh.
Her nature was to help others any way she could. Even in her passing she has achieved this by being an organ donor.
As per mom’s wishes there will not be a service just a private family interment.
In lieu of flowers and in honour of mom’s battle with lung cancer and her sudden passing by heart attack, donations can be made in her memory to either the Canadian Cancer Society or Heart and Stroke Foundation.
