Obituary of Michael Rodney Macko
With broken hearts we announce the loss of our beloved husband and father Michael Macko at St. Joseph’s Hospice on October 8, 2024 at age 59.
Forever remembered by wife Cathy and children Ryan (Sarah) Macko, Lauren Macko, Jonah (Gina) Macko and Jack Macko (McKenna Robinson). Loving and attentive grandfather of Emerie, Matthew, Owen and Jackson. Son of Gerda Macko and the late Frank Macko. Son-in-law of Marlene Lukey (John Scott) and the late Ron Lukey. Brother of Mark (Irene) Macko and Michelle (Cameron) Currie. Brother-in-law of Connie (Keith) Anderson.
Michael lived his life full of energy, passion, curiosity and risk. He loved his family and often said his greatest success and achievement in life was having four adult children who still enjoyed being in cahoots with him. At a young age he took a penchant to Motorsports. Highlights of his passion included racing his Honda TRX 250R at Hully Gully, Copps Coliseum and the Toronto Sky Dome. After a hiatus during which he spent time as crew chief for the boy’s sprint car racing and cheering Lauren on at soccer games he returned to motorcross in the Vet classes at TVR Motorcross club events as well as AMO events including three stints at Walton Transcan.
Mike was an avid cyclist loving his time out on the roads. He had been a member of the Grand Bend Bike Club and during the months weather didn’t permit riding the roads you could find him on a spin bike at the YMCA.
He was an active ball of fire loving time spent outdoors snowmobiling, camping, travelling, boating and hosting backyard parties. He loved to dance. Never short on words or stories, some of his favourite evenings were spent playing cards with lots of tales and laughter with his best group of friends. His allotment on earth may have been shorter but he didn’t live any less.
Michael was a passionate and driven farm equipment salesman and owner of Delta Power Equipment. He rarely forgot a name or a face. His success was contributed to his love for the farming community and devotion to his customers and their families. He felt privileged to work alongside such an incredible team of colleagues that contributed to his successful business.
We cannot thank enough the remarkable staff at Bluewater Health’s cancer clinic lead by Dr. Lebert as well as Dr. Crombeen, our VON nurses and the staff at St. Joseph’s Hospice. The care and support by all was beyond incredible.
