Obituary of Diane M. Pierce

 

Marie Blanche Annette Diane Pierce “nee Cann” “nee Deblois” passed away peacefully at Watford Quality Care with those who loved and cared for her after a hard fought battle with Dementia on July 7, 2024. 

Survived by her husband Vern Pierce. Predeceased by her first husband James Cann Sr. (1994).  Diane was born in Quebec City on July 22, 1945.  She was the daughter of Philippe Deblois (1950) and Annette Roberge (1978).  The second of six children.  Loving sister to (Gilles 2022), Yvon (Carmen), Pauline (Ross), Jean-Guy (Barbara) and France (Francois).  Diane came to Ontario in 1966 and married James Cann Sr. and became step mother to Jim (Corrie), David (1974), Robert (2019), Roger (Lisa) and “mom” to Diane Puyenbroek and Tammie Elliott (Allen) and her own daughter Patricia Kohlsmith (Karl).  Diane was “Gramma” & “Great Gramma” to many and special Nana to Brad and Adam Kohlsmith.  Sister in law to John Cann, Joan (Barney) Whiteside and John (Debbie) Pierce. 

Diane was a care giver her whole life working at a children’s home in Quebec and working at Strathmere Lodge for 25 years.  She took up painting in her later years and created some art that we will cherish forever.  A private family interment in Appin Cemetery will be held at a later date.  In Lieu of flowers, donations and cheques payable to Watford Quality Care.  In cheque memo ~ Please specify "Resident Activities".  All donations made by cheque can be mailed to Denning's of Strathroy, 32 Metcalfe St. W., Strathroy, ON, N7G 1M6.
