Obituary of Susanne Woods
After a brief and courageous battle with cancer, Susanne Taylor Woods passed away peacefully surrounded by love; a pillar of strength and compassion in the Strathroy community for the last 60 years, on June 16, 2024, in her 84th year.
Born on September 25, 1940, in Sarnia, Ontario Susanne leaves behind a legacy marked by her unwavering dedication to family, her profound impact as a nurse, and her creative spirit.
Susanne is survived by Joseph Woods, her loving husband of 38 years, her devoted daughters Kelly (Ray Giffen), Heather (late Kevin Metcalfe) and Pamela Vamplew, along with her cherished grandchildren Ryan, Taylor, Callan, Jonah, Chandlar, Reilly, Keaton and Alexandra, her eight great-grandchildren and her brother David Taylor (Gail).
Sue was a distinguished Registered Nurse since 1961, also excelled as a businesswoman and floral artist after acquiring Nielsen's Flowers in Strathroy, Ontario in 1972. Her career spanned both nursing and the floral industry, marked by compassion, skill, and a talent for bringing joy through her exquisite arrangements. Beyond her professional achievements, Sue loved to travel with winter trips to Arizona where she developed a new creative outlet in designing jewelry while Joe pursued his passion for trap shooting.
A memorial service to celebrate Susanne's life will be held at Denning's Funeral Home, 32 Metcalfe St. W., Strathroy on June 19, 2024, at 11:00 a.m. Visitation will be held on Tuesday, June 18th, from 2:00-4:00 p.m. and 6:00-8:00 p.m. In lieu of flowers, the family kindly requests that donations be made to the Strathroy Middlesex General Hospital in Susanne's memory, honoring her commitment to caring for others.
Susanne Woods will be deeply missed for her warmth, her generosity, and her profound impact on the lives she touched. Her legacy of love and service will continue to inspire all who knew her.
