Obituary of Ernie Zavitz

Ernest Owen Zavitz of Strathroy, died suddenly but peacefully in his home on Tuesday, May 6, 2008 at the age of 83 years. Married for 60 + years, he lost the love of his life, Norma (Prangley) in February 2007. Loving father of Libby (David) Scott of Courtright; Ron (Joanne) of Strathroy; Sharon (Archie, 1993) Lewis of Strathroy; Ken (Sherri) of Kerwood; and Bruce (Wendy) of St. George. Proud grandpa of Matthew, Erin (Alan) and Laura Scott; Becky (Shay), Monica (Dave) and Jill (John) Zavitz; Kim (Greg), Denise (Jeremy) and Pam Lewis; Chandra, Bryce and Madison Zavitz; and Jenna and Klae Zavitz. Great-grandpa of Jesse, Dylan and Jayden Knight; Sarah and Lindsay Verberne; and Abigail Robertson. Dear brother of Walter (Dorothy) Zavitz of Strathroy, Lyle (Carole) Zavitz of Strathroy and Al Zavitz of Komoka. Brother-in-law of Donnie WIlliams of Waterdown and Ross (Barb) Prangley of Blenheim. Ernie will be missed by many nieces and nephews. Predeceased by his parents Owen and Charlotte Zavitz, brothers-in law & sister-in-law Grant & Vi Prangley and June Williams . Resting at Denning Bros. Funeral Home, Strathroy on Friday from 2-5 p.m. and 7-9 p.m. where the funeral service will take place on Saturday, May 10, 2008 at 1p.m. with Rev. Charles Seed officiating. Private family interment in Poplar Hill Cemetery. Lions Club service at the funeral home on Friday at 6:30 p.m. In memory of Ernie, donations may be made to the Poplar Hill Lions Club, Heart & Stroke Foundation or charity of choice would be appreciated. Dad lived life to the fullest each and every day of his life. He enjoyed volunteering for the Poplar Hill Lions Club and working at Cuddy's for many years. Everyone in Strathroy and area will remember Dad's friendly grin. Proudly they called our father " my friend."
