Obituary of Ernie Armitage

Peacefully, at Bluewater Health Care, Sarnia, Ernest “Ernie” Seth Armitage of Forest passed away at the age of 85.
Lovingly remembered by his wife Donna Armitage, his daughters Connie Furtney (Doug), Sue Hodgins (Don) and Cindy MacKinlay-Hunter (Dale).
Dear grandpa and papa of Katherine Furtney (Ryan), Emily Furtney, Cassie Smith (Brent) and Allan Hodgins (Ally). Great grandfather of Freddie and Joanna Smith and Levi and Miles Hodgins.
Survived by his siblings Mary (Carl) Coulbeck, Garry (Pat) Armitage, sisters-in-law Norma Vance and Joan Price, many nieces and nephews as well as Ernie’s cousins Mark and Jim Armitage as well as many other extended family members.
Predeceased by his wife Evelyn (Lucas) in 1987 and his brother Blake Armitage. He was also predeceased by his dear furry companion, Jiggs the cat. Ernie was a proud shop teacher for many years in the Lambton County area, teaching at North Lambton, Kinnaird, Bluewater, Sarnia, Johnson Memorial, Petrolia and then back to Forest until retirement.
Friends are welcome to join the family for a visitation in honour of Ernie on Wednesday, January 24th, 2024 from 2-4 and 6-8 pm at Denning’s of Forest, 9 James St. S. Funeral Service will take place at Forest United Church on Thursday at 1 pm with interment at Beechwood Cemetery, with a reception to follow at the church.
