William (Bill) Okolisan

Surrounded by the love of his children, William (Bill) Okolisan passed away on Monday, December 18th, 2023 at the age of 62 at St. Thomas Elgin General Hospital. Bill grew up in Rodney on the family tobacco farm. After graduating from West Elgin Secondary School, he became a mechanic and worked for many years on the local school buses. It was there that Bill made countless friends and was known for his ability to create an atmosphere of camaraderie, and a commitment to quality work and a job well done. But it was in his role as father and grandfather that Bill truly thrived. He was caring, supportive and fully engaged in his children and grandchildrens’ lives. Bill really was a kid at heart. Together, they swam at the pond, rode 4-wheelers, watched kids’ movies over and over, took care of the family cars, and made the famous Okolisan sausage and salsa. Bill was a strong, active and genuine man who enjoyed what life had to offer. This included going on bike trips and cheering on his favourite hockey teams, the Toronto Maple Leafs, London Knights and West Lorne Comets. He was always up for hanging out with friends and family, sharing laughs over a coffee, a cold beer or whiskey. Bill had much to offer life and to those with whom he shared it, and he has left a huge void in the lives of many. 

Cherished and devoted father to Casey (Greg Logel) and Jeff (Caren). Proud and loving “Pop” to his grandchildren Elizabeth and Rosie Logel; and “Grandpa Bobo” to Anna, Kaiden and Camron Okolisan. Dear brother to Ken (Bonnie). He will also be greatly missed by numerous nieces, nephews, great nieces, great nephews, extended family and friends. Bill was predeceased by his parents, John and Elizabeth Okolisan, and his brother Steve (Sylvia). 

A Celebration of Life will be held on Saturday, December 30th, 2023 from 2:00 PM to 4:00 PM at the Elgin International Club, 11584 Kerr Rd., West Lorne. Words of remembrance at 2:00 PM.  Please dress casual.
