Obituary of Blanche VanHee
Peacefully, surrounded by her loving children and grandchildren at Four Counties Health Services, on Friday, October 27, 2023, Blanche VanHee (née Ross) passed away at the age of 83. Beloved wife of the late Ralph (2000). Blanche was blessed with the love and friendship of her dear partner, Ray Wilson. She was loved and will be dearly missed by her children Ron (Rosemary), Steve (Dolly) and Nicole VanHee (Mark). Cherished grandma to Derek, Dustin and Sara VanHee, and Dakota (Kevin), Emily (Ellie) and Chase. Step-grandmother to Jamieson (Chelsey) and Logan (Matt). Special great-granny to Bryson and Briella. Survived also by several nieces, nephews, cousins and step-children.
Blanche was born on January 10, 1940 in Aldborough Township to the late Charles Orville Ross and Irma Blanche (née Sessions). She is predeceased by her siblings: Earl, Anna McCallum, Leah Rillett, John, Archie, Jim and Bruce.
Blanche was a lifelong resident of West Elgin. Blanche’s membership of the Royal Canadian Legion was of utmost importance and pride to her. She joined Branch 525 in Rodney at the age of 18, and actively contributed throughout her life until its doors closed in 2020. Even after the closure of the Rodney Legion, Blanche continued her membership in Newbury. Family, friends and community were three pillars that Blanche built her life on. She will be dearly missed and remembered by all who knew her
Relatives and friends will be received at DENNING’S OF RODNEY, 212 Furnival Road, Rodney (519-785-0810) on Monday, October 30th from 2-4 p.m. and 6-8 p.m. The Funeral Service will be held on Tuesday, October 31st at 11 a.m.. The Royal Canadian Legion will conduct a memorial service at the funeral home on Monday evening at 5:30 p.m.
Following the funeral, cremation will take place. All are welcome to attend a Graveside Service at Rodney Cemetery on Saturday, November 4th at 11 a.m.
If desired, memorial contributions to the Newbury Legion or the West Elgin Daffodil Society – Auxiliary Cancer would be appreciated by the family.
