Josef Frisa

Obituary of Josef Frisa

It is with a heavy heart that we announce that Josef Frisa passed away on October 25th, 2023 at home at the age of 90. Josef passed away peacefully and was surrounded by loved ones.

He was born in Stadt Liebau, Czechoslovakia, on July, 10th, 1933, where he was raised as a young boy. In 1943, he was relocated to Germany, where he spent his teenage years. It was there he learned to be a tailor. He then immigrated to London, Ontario, in the early 1950’s, where he then planted his roots and a few years later met and married the love of his life.

Beloved husband of the late Waltraut (2014), loving father of Norman (Gayle) Frisa, Susan (Brian) Eedy, and Tammy Vanneste (Mark Ansems). Cherished Opa of 14 grandchildren, and 26 great-grandchildren, one niece and one nephew. He is predeceased by his parents Josef and Elenora Frisa, his sister Isolde, his brothers-in-law William Stronski, and Karl Baumgarten Sr.

Josef dedicated his life to his family first and then the family farm, which was a passion that he worked hard towards and was admirable from family and friends around him.

Beyond his love for the farm life, Josef found joy in watching Toronto Maple Leaf’s hockey games, hosting all of his family and friends for annual pork roasts. He also loved everything about wine and spent many hours making his own. He would take any opportunity to tell anyone and everyone the benefits of wine and go to the family business of Wine Kitz to make some for themselves.

Cremation will have taken place, honouring Josef’s wishes. A private ceremony with family will be held allowing those closest to him to say their final goodbyes.

As Josef’s wishes, in lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Canadian Cancer Society or Diabetes of Canada. Arrangements entrusted to DENNING’S OF STRATHROY.
