Lloyd Ernest Starling
Peacefully at St. Joseph’s Hospice, London, on October 23, 2023, Lloyd Ernest Starling passed away at the age of 78. Lloyd was the loving husband of Karen Starling. He was the proud father of Megan (Ozzie), Amanda (Wesley), Jaymie (Kyle), and Johnny. Lloyd was the cherished Poppa of Zoe-Lynn, Caylan, Kyus, Alexandria, Emery, Hartley, Kade, Rydder, and Braelyn. Lloyd is survived by his brothers Doug (Raylene), Donald (Ann), the late Larry (Sheila), and Thomas (Janet).
Growing up in the Strathroy hockey community, Lloyd was known as “Smirk”, as he often chuckled and smirked after his jokes. Lloyd will always be remembered by his years of dedicated service as Strathroy’s Works Department Superintendent, his “retirement” years of driving school bus for Langs, his Tilly Hat full of pins and his incredible sense of humour. Lloyd was a soft spoken man of few words and loved deeply through actions of service. He was the hardest working man we have known, always ensuring his family had everything they needed. He loved being at the camp, hunting, and spending time with his family. In his words “The biggest thing is, you have to learn to live with what you have.”
As per Lloyd’s wishes, cremation has taken place. A celebration of life will be held on November 11th, 2023, at Strathroy Lion’s Hall from 1pm-4pm.
