Kerry and all of Marg's family, please accept my kindest condolences. I am so sorry for your extremely sad and sudden loss. I met Maggie in 1966 when we both enrolled in the Sarnia General Hospital School of Nursing. Ours was a small class with only 22 graduating. The shared experience of 3 years of residence living, class, challenging clinical work, and leisure time shenanigans made us sort of a family. After graduation people scattered and as the years went on not everyone attended our 5 year reunions and latterly annual get-togethers. Marg and I were two of the group of 6-8 who always showed. In our first year the more senior students addressed us by our last names as was the tradition back then. That's why I still think of her as Chelew. In residence if we went looking for her we would find her reading a mystery novel somewhere. She didn't seem to mind being interrupted and was always willing to join us in our sing-alongs or walks or seances(one time!) or "heavy raps". I always appreciated her ready and ironic sense of humor and kind listening ear. The last time we got together was in July when we went to a music play called "Yesterday Once More" at the VPP. and then shared a meal and old memories. A line of the song: "Those were such happy times, and not so long ago" resonates. I am thinking more about the gatherings where we renewed our friendship and relived the life-changing experience of nursing education but also the early days where we all got by with a little help from our friends. We'll miss you Chelew.

I worked across the hall from Marg for many years. She was a nurse who took her job seriously and did it well. Marg could give you a frown or a big smile. May her family remember all the good times.

To Marg's Family.
I remember Marg well from my years at SMGH. She was a very efficient OR nurse and we on the Surgical Floor always knew our patients were in good hands when she came to take them to the OR.
My husband remembers her from going all through public school at East Williams in Nairn with her.
Treasure your many memories of her and hold them close to your hearts where she will always remain and remember that LOVE never dies.
RIP Marg
Sincerely,
Edward and Linda Fox

I use to work in the O.R. with Margaret. I looked up to her as she never ever made me feel inadequate when I asked her questions. As a young nurse, new to the O.R., I often felt I wasn't up to the task and feared I asked far too many questions. One day after asking yet another new question, I apologized for asking. She then replied: No don't. I'd rather have you ask than pretend you know. So, I just kept asking. :)
My condolences to Margaret's family.
