Obituary of EmmaJane Ingham
Jane Ingham, born May 13, 1929, passed away in her sleep at the Restview Retirement Home in Lucan on the morning of June 15th, 2008. Jane was born in Summerside, PEI to Bishop and Vera Read. She obtained her nursing diploma in 1952 and spent the early years of her career travelling across Canada and throughout Australia and New Zealand practicing mostly in pediatrics . Jane met her future husband, David Ingham on a cruise across the Pacific Ocean. Jane and David were married on December 28th ,1962 in Summerside PEI. They resided in several cities in Ontario and settled in Ailsa Craig , Ontario in 1971 to raise their children in a small town setting . When her children were adults, Jane returned to nursing and worked in several homes for the elderly. In the past several years Jane suffered from dementia and lost her short term memory; however, the memories of family and friends remained strong and happy. Jane is survived by her husband , David Ingham of Lucan; children, Elizabeth (Dave) Gingerich of Waterloo, Bill (Irene) Ingham of California and Susan (William) Tupper of Saskatoon Sk. Brothers Balfour (Shirley) Read Summerside PEI, Verne Read of Halifax, and sister in law Marjorie Read of Charlottetown; grandchildren Joshua, Joel, and Luke Gingerich, Alexis and Grace Ingham, and Jonah, Katie and Maya Tupper as well as many nieces and nephews. She is predeceased by her parents and brother Dean Read. Jane was wonderful, caring, strong woman, wife, mother, sister and friend. She had an enduring love of the Lord, a passion for her family , brilliant sense of humor and was always ready for a good debate. She will be remembered fondly for warm hugs, ready laugh and willingness to visit and play with her grandchildren despite declining health in the last year. The family would like to thank the staff at the Restview Retrirement Home in Lucan for their special care in the past few years. Visitation will be held at T. Stephenson and Son Funeral Home, Ailsa Craig on Wednesday June 18th, from 7:00pm to 9:00pm. Funeral service will be held on Thursday June 19, 2008 at 2:00pm from Nairn Mennonite Church. Interment Nairn Cemetery to follow service.
