Obituary of Carl Allan Waun
Waun, Carl Allan
It is with heavy hearts that the family announces that Carl Allan Waun went to be with his Lord and Saviour on May 6th, 2023, at the age of 77. Beloved husband of the late Linda Waun (Nee Calcutt). Loving and cherished father of Paul (Nelia) and David (Kristi). Treasured Papa of Lola and Ethan, and Fraser, Keenan and Kassie. Carl is predeceased by his parents Raymond and Helen Waun. Also predeceased by his brothers Larry and Walter (late Sandy). Carl is survived by his niece Michelle (Andy), and nephews Mike (Liz), and Jon (Tammy). He will also be sadly missed and always remembered by his extended family and many friends throughout the community.
Carl was actively involved in the Strathroy community for most of his adult life. He coached both of his boys in minor hockey and baseball. He also spent time scouting for the Strathroy Rockets Hockey Club. Carl was a member of the Caradoc Cruisers for several years. He was known to frequent downtown in a 1962 Chevy Impala, and more recently in a 1932 Ford Hiboy. Carl was no stranger to motorsports as he could often be found at Grand Bend Motorplex and Delaware Speedway in the summer. He loved fighting a fish from his boat on Clear Lake, Mitchell’s Bay, or Long Point. He was a huge Toronto Maple Leafs fan that would rarely miss Hockey Night in Canada and Coach’s Corner. Most of all, Carl was a dedicated member of Bethel Baptist Church where he served as a youth leader, a music director, a choir member, a Deacon, and an Elder. As it says in one of his favourite verses: “Whatever you do, do it heartily, as to the Lord and not to men.” Dad – you will be greatly missed.
The Waun family wishes to extend their sincere gratitude to Dr. Perkin, Dr. Jain, and the staff of 2-South at Strathroy Middlesex General Hospital for all of their care, compassion and kindness.
