It is with heavy hearts the family announces the sudden passing of Jan Paul Henry Joosten, on May 4th, 2023, at the age of 56. Beloved husband and best friend of Heather Joosten (Hoskin) of 33 special and cherished years. Loving and devoted father of Janessa Joosten and Jacobus Joosten. Jan was the dear brother of Joe (Mary) Joosten, Pete (Sue) Joosten, Chuck (Dagmar) Joosten, Marian (Al) McColl, Tony (Heather) Joosten. Jan was predeceased by his parents John and Nellie Joosten. Jan was the brother-in-law of Debbie (Al) Davenport and Sherri (Jim) Deveau. Jan will be sadly missed and always remembered by his extended family, nieces, nephews, his countless friends throughout the community, and everyone who knew Jan.
Jan was a dedicated firefighter for 30 years, serving his community with great pride and perseverance. Jan was part of the professional fire service with the City of London serving as a captain. Jan was a volunteer member of the Westminster, Watford, and Warwick Fire Departments throughout the years. Jan had a strong work ethic. In his spare time, he sold Traeger grills, owned Wisbeach Wine Cellar, operated a Maus loader for Grace Transport, was a truck driver for Sipkens Nurseries and a chauffeur for Prestige Limo. Jan gave his time to volunteering at countless community events. He was a member of the Watford Optimist Club, he was an Arkona Scout Leader, a member of Watford Cornfest Committee, and Watford/Alvinston Road Race Committee. Jan was instrumental in fundraising for many charities. Jan was a pillar in the community and will be missed by many.
A private family funeral will be held at DENNING’S OF WATFORD. A Firefighter visitation will be held at Westview Funeral Home, from 1:00p.m. until 4:00p.m. on Saturday, May 13th, 2023. A Celebration of Jan's life will take place at the Community Centre in Watford, from 4:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m., Friday May 26th, 2023. As expressions of sympathy, donations may be made to the Strathroy Middlesex General Hospital Foundation, ICU Unit for Nursing Education.
