Obituary of Elisabeth Josephina Martina Kennes

Kennes, Elisabeth “Liz” 

Peacefully and freed from the bonds of dementia, Elisabeth (Liz) Kennes (Versteegden) passed away at Strathmere Lodge on April 8, 2023, at the age of 90. Elisabeth was predeceased by her beloved husband Harry Kennes (1995). Loving mother to Frank and Marianne Kennes; Kathy and Jim Hendrikx; Dave and Willy Ann Kennes and Ron and Linda Kennes. Proud Grandma of Jeff Kennes and Ben (Amy Dickson) Kennes; Mike (Krystle) Hendrikx, Paul (Lisa Walters) Hendrikx and Lindsay Brannon; Ryan (Laura) Kennes, Jennifer (AJ) de Bruyn and Matt (Jocelyn) Kennes; Josh (Jenn) Kennes; Montana (Samson Goodenough) Kennes and Markus Kennes. Beloved Great-Grandma to Tom, Emma, Fletcher, Carmin, Taylor, Jimmy, Hailey, Lyla, Alana, Riley, Evelyn, Parker and Laurel.

Elisabeth was predeceased by her father Henry Versteegden, her mother Katherine and stepmother Wilhelmina. Elisabeth was the much-loved eldest sister of Tony and Ann Versteegden, Catherine and Frank VanderBurght, Jane and Lou Vanderheyden, Marge Versteegden, Adrian and Kathy Versteegden and Thea and Gus Backx. Predeceased by her sister and brother-in-law Joanne and Hank Dorssers and her brother Albert Versteegden. Respected sister-in-law of the late Ted and late Catherine Van Roestel, the late Joe and late Rachel Kennes, Mary and the late Albert VandenBogaard, Elizabeth and the late John Donkers, Hubert and Frances Kennes, the late Louis and Carol Kennes and Seline and Peter Visser. Beloved Aunt to many many nieces and nephews.

Elisabeth was kind and helpful friend to all and volunteer for so many causes including the Catholic Women’s League where she served as an active member for over 60 years.

Visitation will take place at Denning’s of Strathroy on Tuesday April 11, 2023, from 4-8 pm.  A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at All Saints Church on Wednesday April 12,2023, at 1:00p.m. followed by burial next to her beloved Harry in the Parkhill Cemetery.
