I was saddened to hear of Gary's death. He was always a most interesting and helpful person at work and we could discuss more than my IT woes when we chatted. He was a tireless advocate and his compassion for others was demonstrated in his words and actions.

Our thoughts are with Sharon and the Doerr family. Despite Gary’s health and mobility issues, there was hardly a day he would not make it to work, truly inspiring. He always had a smile on his face and a positive attitude.

I have many found memories of Gary. He was always a great help to me with my computer. We had great discussions about Doctor Who and Babylon 5. He loved his science fiction shows. He will be missed greatly.

I was saddened to read of Gary's death. I'm sorry for Sharon's loss and the loss of Gary's family and friends. I worked for a time with Gary in IT, and through that spell I learned from him the true meaning of grit and positivity. I admired his contributions to the broader community as well. PN

Our deepest condolences to Sharon and family. Heaven has gained another beautiful angel, life is to short as they say never take a day for granted as you never know what tomorrow will bring, Gary was an inspiration to many and getting to know him was an honour. His sole was a beautiful heart of gold just to have that opportunity to be his specialized transit driver throughout my career was a blessing his smile, his passion, his devoted love for your wife all the incredible stories that he would share was phenomenal R.I.P our friend.

My condolences to Sharon and family. I was a PIPSC steward with Gary for many years. He had a beautiful soul and was an inspiration. I admired Gary’s dedication to his union and advocating for persons with disabilities. Gary’s was committed to acknowledging the National Day of Mourning and did it with such class and dignity. Gary never complained even when he was not comfortable and always had a smile for you. I am lucky to call him a friend and I am sad he is no longer with us. The world lost a wonderful person as he always inspired those around him to be better. May you rest in peace Gary.

Gary was my brother-in-law. The most amazing aspect of Gary was his positive attitude, even after several years of health difficulties. Darlene and I visited Gary two days before his surgery on March 10, and both his spirit and courage were up. Attached is a wonderful picture of a 15 year Gary, along with my younger brother, on the occasion of our marriage 52 years ago. Ken Goll
