I'm late hearing about Uncle Mel's passing, he was such a great person, we had a lot of fun times, He called us the Pinehill kids, He took all of the neighbourhood kids in and spoiled all of us. We always went riding on the four wheeler, searching for golf balls, Getting copper wire ready for the junk yard, we even went to work with him some days in the big hoe, he used to teach us the big heavy machinery which was alot of fun and going down and having hot dogs on Sundays, thank you so much for cooking the fried onions Linda, they were delicious, Hotdog Sundays would not have been the same without them. Sending my Love and condolences to you.

My deepest condolences go out to Linda and all Mels loved ones. Mel loved children. He was a great role model to so many of us
Pinehill kids. My first memory of Mel was a snakebite on the arm. He loved to give kids a snakebite. Mel taught us to gut fish, strip Coper wire, drive heavy equipment, golf ball hunting, screen top soil and so much more. Mel gave most of us nicknames and never called us by our real names after that. Mel was a hardworking man. If we all worked hard we would get an ice Cream at the end of the day. Mel would always say save half for Tobey the old dog they had. Mel loved his Sunday hot dogs with all the neighbourhood kid. If we all showed up it was more than 12 kids and some of the parents. It wasn't just Sundays we would all be down there. Growing up in Pinehill was never a dull moment back in the day. So many great memory's. Mel will be missed by many. Sorry for your loss.

Thinking of all the family, at this time.....Mel enjoyed children, many times would take the neighbour kids into town for ice cream. Also on Sundays, had hot dogs for the kids, who ever was around to enjoy ,the Sunday with Mel.
When my grandchildren came home.Mel came to pick them up to hunt golf balls and have lunch. A lot of memories, of a good neighbour. He will be missed, by all

On behalf of myself and my husband Bill and my son Bill &Shaynne & family..Bob & Amanda &family to my sister Linda we are all deeply sorry for your loss and you and Mel had a long run ...I can think of many times threw the years the conversations...how Mel loved to tease and torment you and me and Pat and many others and enjoyed doing it so much...he was known near and far...he had a tender heart for children in neighborhood....he enjoyed touring around just because...he liked being the boss...he had a good life and not alot of health troubles till he hit 80...when I talked to him on phone when in hospital he told me he got 8 more years because of pace maker...I am sure that what I would call it the wider station coffee club that gathered every Sunday morning in his shop...everybody added their thoughts as well...oh how he knew what buttons to push in you and a couple others of us about no matter what it was he always told everyone hay they are Irish....didnt matter what it was it was because we were Irish...what he didn't know is we are proud of the Irish in us that part made us survivors...his loud voice I can hear it in my head...to Mel's family nephews, neices, great ones as well I extend on behalf of my family our deepest sympathy...Mel will be remembered by so many and I hope that Linda will be remembered at this time and in time to come ..my sister Linda Nutt was the woman behind the man and gave her help in numerous ways over the years and she will miss Mel but remember she is Irish and she is a survivor..she may Crack a bit but she won't break...so to my sister Linda always remember how much I love you and how you were there for me at my lowest and we could just sit and not say a word and how much it helped..you held me when I cried you showed me your love you became a mom to me when I needed it most and you are my friend...remember when we watched TV with Mel and then you and I would talk and Melvin would mute TV on commercials then look at us we looked at him and he would say well talk now we looked at each other and didn't have anything to say but when show would come back on we would talk and he shock his head and had that toothpick in his mouth and you would say what and it would be said it was because we are Irish...live love and laugh Linda you have a unique sense of humor...one day at a time sis sometimes it will be moment by moment...you will get threw this with the help of family and friends those that know you they really know you they will show you this when you lest expect it..I love you Linda always.(Babe)

We first met Mel at Lizzy's over 3 yrs ago as we enjoyed coffee & breakfast.
Last summer, he was always coming around to help supervise road construction by the legion along with a few other seniors in the area.
He enjoyed his independence with the scooter , including curb side service at Poppa Jimmy's!
Heartfelt condolences to Mel's family & friends.
Praying peace and comfort for all.
