Obituary of Dorothy Vera Sparling

SPARLING, DOROTHY (DOT)

At 9:10 am, Thursday, February 23, 2023, Bryon prayed as Dorothy peacefully entered heaven.   Bonita and her family were able to join by video while Bryon, Dorinda, and Mike held her.   Dorothy is with Jesus and although we will miss her here, we rejoice that she is with her Saviour.

       Dorothy is missed by her loving husband Bryon, her daughters Dorinda (Mike), and Bonita (Samuel).   Loving grandmother of Davina, Joycelynn, Ava, Joshua, and Caleb.   Sister of Ruby Sykes (late Tom), Bernice Davidson, and the late Darlene Rigaudell (Jim).  Sister in law to Susan Sparling Manuel (late Carman), Noreen Nazareth (Lambert), and Norman Sparling (late Hilda).  Loving aunt to 16 nieces and nephews.

       Predeceased by her parents Delbert and Amelia Davidson.

Dorothy was born in Three Hills, Alberta.   She graduated from Prairie Bible Institute and later with a Mission Medical degree from Biola University, California, with which she served in Haiti at the House of Hope Children’s Hospital for 12 years under UFM/Crossworld.  It was there that she met and later married Bryon.  She served the remainder of her years in Forest, opening her home to missionaries, those suffering in life, and caring for her neighbours and church community.   She faithfully taught the Word of God to children, women, and vulnerable persons, and served as a Prayer Co-ordinator for many years.

Visitation will take place at Forest Baptist Church, 19 Prince Street, Forest, on Friday, March 3, 2023, from 4:00 pm – 7:00 pm.   Funeral Service will take place at the church on Saturday, March 4, 2023, at 11:00 am.  Interment to follow at Beechwood Cemetery.
