Harry lived life to the fullest. He worked incredibly hard his whole life and exemplified what it meant to be a good steward of the land. The Mezenberg family were supported by the community in the early years when Harry’s father died young. He never forgot that and decided to dedicate many years to serving the community that he loved through local politics. He was a councilman and past reeve of Rodney-Aldborough, warden of Elgin county and one of the architects of West Elgin’s municipal amalgamation in 1998.
After serving on council, he continued to serve his community by serving on several boards such as the West Elgin Community Health Centre, Elgin County Plowing Match, Libro Credit Union, Knights of Columbus, Trillium Foundation and West Elgin Heritage Homes for Seniors to name a few. Most important to Harry was his family who he was very proud of and loved dearly. Life was good to Harry because he was good to the people around him.
The family would like to invite the community to join them for a visitation in Harry’s honour on Monday, February 20th, 2023 from 2-5 pm at Denning’s of Rodney, 212 Furnival Road.
A celebration of Harry’s life will take place on Tuesday at St. Mary’s Parish Hall, West Lorne, at 11 am. A private family interment of ashes will take place at a later date.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions to the West Elgin Daffodil Auxiliary or the charity of your choice would be appreciated as your expression of sympathy. The family would like to extend a very special thank you to Dr. Kevin Mardell for the care and compassion he showed Harry during his illness.
