Obituary of Jean Paul (John) Desgroseilliers

With great sadness, we announce the passing of our Dad, Jean Paul (John) Desgroseilliers on Wednesday, January 4, 2023, at St. Joseph’s Hospice in Sarnia, Ontario.

Dad was so well cared for by our Mom, for 65 years. His last days of life were in the hands of the most caring and compassionate staff at St. Joseph's Hospice. He was not alone as we were all there by his side to reassure him that he was loved and it was ok to go.

Survived by his loving wife Fleur-Ange, his 5 daughters and a son, Odile Gova (Julian) of Scarborough, Angie Desgroseilliers (Gary) of Windsor, Lise-Anne MacFadden (John) of Petrolia, Louise Melin (Kevin) of Arkona, Coline Auld of London, and Yvon Desgroseillers (Deanne) of Ravenswood. He will be greatly missed by his many grandchildren, great-grandchildren, neices and nephews.

Many of our treasured memories with our Dad involved fishing. Dad was an avid hunter/fisherman. It was his favourite activity and our Mom always made it possible for him to meet his brothers in Hearst, Ontario, for a hunting/fishing trip at least twice a year throughout their married life. Our Dad had the BEST stories to tell about those trips, and we have many of our own.

We also enjoyed beautiful days on the beach with our whole family and often, our cousins joined us as well. Over the years many picnics were had at Ipperwash Beach. Just the best times to remember.

Our Dad loved Jehovah God with all his heart and even when he could hardly speak, he asked our brother to say a prayer for him while we were gathered together in his room at the hospice. It was a very special moment.

When some of his closest friends were asked to come, they arrived swiftly and without hesitation. Their love for him was so evident and we are so thankful that he was able to say goodbye to a few. Dad had a very special bond with the Forest Congregation. To everyone who sent cards and expressions of love, please know they were all received and read to our Dad.

Our Dad was firm, yet he was soft and loving, and often told us how much he loved us and appreciated us. His firmness taught us good values and how to be good workers. He will be dearly missed until we are reunited in Jehovah God’s promised new system of things where death will be a thing of the past. Isaiah 25:8 "He will swallow up death forever, And the Sovereign Lord Jehovah will wipe away the tears from all faces."
