As a new year is about to begin I recall going to your brother’s for the annual Halloween Decoration Show, missing the Christmas card in the mail, sending flowers on your birthday. I hated going to the gravesite on the 1year anniversary but mom wanted to go. She didn’t get to meet and go over Christmas lists with a drink or two. You missed her 80th birthday, and she misses you every day.
As time goes by you’ll feel her void,
As time goes by again,
That void will be erased.
I truly hope so but you left a pretty big void.
Your favorite niece

We had your funeral on Saturday. Those you loved the most were there. Barb,Lenny,Tammy,Amanda,Katie and Chris, Lindsay and Ryan.Billie,Jeremy,Debbie,Hilton, Brad and your favorite niece. Cassie,Nick and Addison.( I think she shares your love of flowers) Howard,Bernice,Andrew and Jim. Tomorrow is your birthday and for the first time in ten years I won’t be picking up flowers and signing “your favorite niece”.
Thanks for never missing a cancer clinic appointment, for treating my boys and grandson as your own, for punching me in the arm to get my attention, for being mom’s partner in crime and giving me a sign so I wouldn’t worry.
The time I shared with you was blindingly bright.
Because the day was good
Because the day wasn’t good
Because the day was just right
Because the day wasn’t just right
I loved each and every day.

Everyone’s afraid of dying, but the scariest is not dying yourself but that those you cherish die. If you die yourself there’s no feeling at all, but the death of those you cherish, to those that are left alive will have to bear the pain and you never know when this type of pain will end.
Well Aunt Dian I made it thru my first Christmas without you.
Thank you for letting me be your favorite niece.

Aunt Dian had many roles in her life: wife, mother, sister, grandmother, and aunt, and she excelled at them all! My husband Jeremy and I and our son, Hilton had the honour of being able to say that Dian was our aunt, and she really was a great aunt. It will be difficult to see the empty lawn chair that Aunt Dian always occupied at family get togethers, and I don’t remember her ever missing one. We spent hours together talking, sharing stories and many laughs at backyard summer BBQs at GMA’s (Barb’s), family birthdays, weddings, baby showers, pool parties, and “just because” visits.
She loved to laugh, and Aunt Dian’s laugh was infectious- if she was laughing, you were laughing! Aunt Dian had a fierce love and loyalty for her family, and we always knew where we stood with her, she did not pull her punches! She would tell you like it was, and yet at the same time she was warm and kind. All of Aunt Dian’s siblings will tell you what a fantastic sister she was, and I know that Barb (GMA) especially will miss not only her sister, but her confidant, and her greatest friend in all this world so very much. They lead by great example what the relationship between sisters should look like. My mother-in-law, Robin shared an extremely strong bond with her aunt, one that transcended just being related by blood.
To cousins Howard and Jimmy and their families, we cannot imagine the depth of your loss. Aunt Dian was a very proud mother and grandmother, and she would brag about both Howard and Jimmy as though nobody had greater boys than she had, and you and your families were the apple of her eye!
Aunt Dian is now at peace and reunited with Uncle Del. Life will not be the same without her and she will be greatly missed, but we are consoled by the fact that we were able to speak with her before her passing to let her know how very loved she was and that she was the best Great-Aunt that anyone could ever hope for.
We will be sure to save you a chair at the next family get together Aunt Dian. Empty, or not it will always be yours.

Waaaay back in the day my husband and I used to bowl with Del and Dian. It was a great league because none of us took ourselves too seriously and we always had more than a few laughs at both the regular games and at the yearly banquet. Del and Dian were such a fun couple and I have fond memories of them both. Please accept our sincere condolences on your Mom’s passing.
