Obituary of Wentworth Newman
Newman
The family of Wentworth (Wenty) Newman is sad to announce that West Lorne has lost a great man. He leaves behind his loving and dedicated wife, Julie Newman, his devoted children; Andrea Newman (Kevin Christopher), Denise Palmer (Jay) and Remi (Michelle) and Papa to Alaina, Jack, Jayden, Kaia, Keegan, Emmett, Madison and Ben.
Dear brother of Ruby, Sem and Jenny. Wenty was a “legend” of an uncle to many nieces and nephews.
Wentworth immigrated from Jamaica with his family in the 50’s to Canada, initially landing in Toronto where he attended night school to prepare himself for a distinguished career with the Land Registry office. He worked in Kitchener first then in Glencoe for twenty years, wrapping up his time as a Land Registrar of Middlesex County in London. He retired to West Lorne with his love and dance partner Julie where he continued to connect with people, always making a great impression and creating lifelong friendships with everyone he met. He was very loved by his adopted Begin family as well. He served in many community organizations including the Mount Brydges Lions Club, Board of Directors of the Southwest Health Unit, West Lorne Kiwanis as well as his hard work and determination to outfit the school in his hometown of Christiana, Jamaica with computers. On most summer days, you would find Wenty at the golf course, trying for that hole in one.
A celebration of Wentworth’s life will take place in the future.
If desired, memorial contributions to the West Elgin Daffodil Auxiliary would be appreciated as your expression of sympathy.
