Eddie Baker

Obituary of Eddie Baker

With broken hearts, we announce the passing of Paul Edward “Eddie” Baker, on Friday, October 14th, 2022 with family by his side. Loving and devoted father of Amy Baker-Wayling, and proud father-in-law of Andrew Wayling.  His grandson, Gibson Wayling was the absolute light of his life. Eddie is so friggin’ proud of the young man Gibson has become.  Forever dedicated husband to his late wife Dianne, Eddie is finally with his sweetheart again.

He will be missed by his 4 sisters, 3 brothers and many nephews and nieces.

Eddie was born in Toronto, Ontario on August 13, 1956 to father Wallace Edward Baker and mother Karen Anne Barbara Moreau.  The oldest of eight children, Eddie didn’t have much of a formal education. He helped out with his family and worked odd jobs starting at an early age. His work ethic and desire to take care of his family led him to becoming an Iron Worker. A 3rd generation Iron Worker and a proud member of Iron Workers local 721 from 1988 until retirement in 2015-Eddie now holds an honorary lifetime membership status. He loved and was very proud of his trade and was honored that he was able to nurture his son-in-law Andrew Wayling to join the local in 2004.  He was so very proud of his trade and the friends he met over the many years of his career. During this time, he started the very first Iron Workers Motorcycle club in Canada, in 2004. It has grown and is doing amazing runs and charities all over Canada.

He held all of his friendships close, he was dedicated and loyal to all.

There wasn’t a day that went by that he wouldn’t throw out a “Dad Joke” they were quite the groaners!

Those who knew him well, knew that being around him there would always be a great time.

Eddie had a larger than life personality, he was always welcome in every room, and in his heart, all he wanted to do was to be able to make people laugh.

A celebration of life will be hosted by a very gracious family friend on Saturday, October 22, 2022 between 11:00 and 14:00.  Light snacks will be provided. All are welcome to drop by to share a story and a laugh.
