John and Ruth together ran the family business, Thomson’s Men’s Wear, after the passing of Norman(1971) until their retirement in 1991. John worked side by side with his father from the age of 15 and Ruth joined them shortly after John and Ruth were married(1955)  After retirement Ruth and John enjoyed their leisurely drives around the Ontario countryside and especially driving north in the autumn to see the colourful display of leaves. For many years in the winter months they would migrate south to Florida and catch the Blue Jays at training camp. The summer months where at home watching the grandchildren and friends splash around in their pool as well as faithfully watching their beloved blue jays. Ruth took great pride in professionally scoring each game in her book from season opener to the last game of the season

Her grandchildren always had a special place in her heart. She always looked forward to babysitting anytime and to all of their visits after school when they got older

She loved knitting her handmade sweaters to keep all of us nice and warm

Ruth and John spent all of their time together. She is sadly missed by her family but is now at peace by Johns side once again

A private family graveside ceremony will take place at a later date.

If desired, memorial contributions to the Alzheimer’s Association would be appreciated as your expression of sympathy. Donations can be accepted at any Denning Funeral Home
